How Watchdrift Works
From a public URL to a precise, filtered change alert. See the workflow, the limits, and what happens after checkout.
Watchdrift turns a public URL into a precise monitor. You choose the page, the content that matters, how often to check, and where the alert should go.
1. Start with a page you already refresh by hand
Use a regulator notice board, a tender listing, a competitor product page, a documentation page, or a public JSON endpoint. The page must be publicly accessible without signing in.
2. Choose what counts as the signal
Text compares visible wording. HTML catches link and attribute changes. CSS selector narrows the monitor to a table, article, notice list, or buy box. JSON follows a public structured response.
Use include keywords to keep only the lines that matter, then exclude terms such as cookie notice, viewed today, or print this page.
3. Set a sensible check interval
Every successful request uses one credit. A page checked hourly uses 24 checks a day. Pro and Agency support shorter intervals when the decision depends on speed.
| Interval | Checks per day | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 60 minutes | 24 | Policy, standards, and most catalogue pages |
| 15 minutes | 96 | Tender portals and active market changes |
| 5 minutes | 288 | Fast-moving prices and operational pages |
4. Receive the exact change
Alerts show added and removed lines with timestamps. Email and Telegram are available on every pack. Pro and Agency add webhooks and API access for internal systems.
5. Activate automatically after purchase
- Complete Shopify checkout with a valid email.
- Watchdrift creates or reuses the account associated with that email.
- Your selected checks and plan limits are added automatically.
- A secure one-time login link is emailed to you.
- The Shopify order is marked fulfilled automatically.
What Watchdrift does not do
Watchdrift does not log in to private accounts, solve CAPTCHAs, bypass paywalls, evade bot protection, or access content that is not publicly available. Third-party pages can change, block requests, or become unavailable.
Start with the page that causes the most manual checking.
Monitor one high-value public source before expanding. A narrow selector and a small keyword set usually produce the most useful first alert.
